Broaden Your Mind

I have received many cos throughout my life, but one of the best complements I have ever received is "You sound like you read a lot. Your mind is so broad." The truth is that I hardly read anything that isn't mandatory, and even then chances are that I don't read it in its entirety. My response to that wonderful compliment was that I don't read a lot; I talk a lot and to a lot of different people. I have conversations on a wide range of topics - from cartoon to tourism, politics to farming, cleaning to energy, family life to fashion, sex to world development and the list goes on. I formulate my own ideas on these topics and having conversations with other people broadens mu mind because there are points of views and arguments I may have never thought of that are valid and legitimate that my colleagues bring forward. And if I'm lucky, they did the reading ;)

I think another way to broaden your mind is through music. I have a Youtube account and the wide range of videos saved there is not even as extensive as I would like, but I'm working on it. Yes I may not understand a word of what is being said, but sometimes lyrics are trivial, and understanding the emotion, the mood is more essential.

So I challenge you to broaden your mind. Read up on "random" things. Google anything and start reading up. Have more conversations on things that interest you or things you see or hear about. Listen to music of other countries and cultures from around the world. You can do all of these orrrrr if money permits - TRAVEL THERE YOURSELF!! :D

Lessons To Be Learned

So as of late I have been stepping on the toes of a new friend who I will call LG. He's been such a wonderful friend to me, almost perfect, or as close to perfect as humanly possible, and I feel like in return I'm not giving a full 100%. My insecurities are getting in the way. I thought the best thing to do would be to suppress it and force myself to become the person I should be. Speaking to another new friend, Rii, about the situation she wisely advised me that the best thing to do is not to run away from or hide in a corner with my insecurities, but face them head on and discuss them with LG so that we know what they are and we can hence deal with them.

Life On A Silver Platter

We all work hard for what we want. When we acquire such things that we have worked hard for, we appreciate and cherish them even more.

I have been told on a number of occasions that I was born with a golden spoon in my mouth, and chances are I was. I will admit that I am used to a certain standard of living, however, I don't look down on those who do not have what I have, nor do I only associate with persons of my "class" and higher.

With that being said, I still understand and appreciate working hard for something I want. We hear this being said all the time and it's true: we live in an instantaneous world. We want everything now now now. Click of a mouse, snap of a finger, blinking of an eye we want it all in an instant. How many people still plan out their life and their hopes and dreams and how they can obtain it? How many people still think to themselves okay I like this company, I want to work there. I will get a job wherever I can and do some training, make a good name for myself within the company and move up the ranks within the company? Some people believe that I must have it all in an instant and poof I'm not suppose to mingle with others of lower or lesser stature than myself.

We create segregation and divisions in the world because of things like that. What stops you the one with the money from working your way up the ladder just like me without? What stops you with the degree from working the same place me without a high school diploma? In the end we may be different places, but what stops us from starting the same place?

Live life big. Dream even bigger. But work hard. Be grateful for what you have been given. Sometimes we need hardship to make us appreciate the good times even more. If you always have water running in your pipes at your home, wasting it like it will always be there. The day, or week, or month that you go without, hopefully, when it returns your attitude towards it would have change. You would appreciate and cherish it. You will think of ways to conserve and preserve it, for yourself, and for others.

Think about it if you never have. Take time to enjoy everything.

Does Clean Have A Smell??

I finally decided to wash my locks the "local"/"Rasta" way, using literally all natural products. Thankfully there is someone who loves me dearly and volunteered to help me out. To make the shampoo he took hibiscus leaves and crushed them in a bucket of water. Well, maybe crush isn't the word. If you've seen anyone wash clothes in their hands, that's more of the motion. A green slime is produced and is strained before being used as shampoo. I wash my hair as I normally would using the green slime instead of shampoo from a bottle.

After washing and rinsing my hair, I took some locks in my hands as I normally do and smelled my hair. To my surprise there was not a scent left on my hair. It was in that moment that I realised the truth to "clean has no smell"

Nowadays we associate the smell of "clean" with Febreeze and other products, but these things are not real clean. Real clean reminds you of being in a pristine environment, the scent of nothing or of purity. I maintain that when I am able - in my own house/apartment/whatever, I shall use as many all natural products as possible. Vinegar instead of disinfectant, hibiscus leaves instead of shampoo, lemons as air fresheners for example. Nature is clean so I will learn from her and use what she has to remain clean :)

The Hurrican Season has began
